Louisville leads for Smith

J.R. Smith is pretty much looking at three schools right now. Over the course of the last six months, his leader has changed. Here's the latest.

"I can't wait for everything. The dunks, the defense, rebounding and everything. I'm going to try and do everything. My goal is for us to be the team of the summer and to win [The Big Time] in Vegas."

Meanwhile, Smith has narrowed his college choices to three programs: Louisville, North Carolina and Duke.

We addressed each one with him.

LOUISVILLE: "Actually, they just kept up on me. I wasn't thinking about them much but I talked to Taquan [Dean] and he said that he that he told Coach Pitino about me and they got real interested. … They like to work and after they score they're waiting to play D." Louisville has offered and Smith said they are his leaders.

NORTH CAROLINA: "They're No. 2 right now. I haven't been in touch with them lately. I've been more in touch with the Louisville people than the Carolina people for some reason." UNC has not offered to date.

DUKE: "They said that they would be up there this spring to watch us workout. … I went to Steiner [Dahntay Jones' school] my freshman year where he went to high school. I've learned more about him." Smith sees himself as being like Jones but not as big. Smith thinks Duke has offered but our information cannot confirm that offer.

Still, Louisville is in good shape. Smith has taken the SAT but has not achieved a qualifying score just yet. He would like to take a spring visit or two. "I'm looking for an open weekend when we don't have any AAU."

And we're looking forward to seeing him play AAU.
