When UNC first offered, Virgile knew very little about the school. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker learned a good deal on Monday when Charlie Williams visited North Miami Beach (Fla.) High School.
"[He talked] about how I would like the program that they have, they have a good business core – that's what I want to study – and he really wants me to get up there to see how it looks," Virgile said. "He said he'll tell me more when I get there."
Virgile hasn't taken official visits and doesn't have any others scheduled. However, he's been discussing dates with Kansas State, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State.
Heading into his official visit schedule, Virgile says he's leaning toward Nebraska and UNC. Regardless, he plans to take all five official visits before making a verbal commitment.
"I really liked those two schools, because I really think they're interested in me and not somebody else," Virgile said. "They've shown me a lot of interest."
With UNC specifically, Virgile said he likes the reputation Butch Davis has built.
"They have a good coach," Virgile said. "He does great things. Butch Davis, that's a big name out there."
Working in UNC's favor is North Miami Beach's linebackers coach, Tommy Richardson, who lettered four seasons at the school and was a former captain.
"[Richardson] played at North Carolina and he's kind of good friends with Coach Williams," Virgile said.
During this weekend's official visit, Virgile hopes to spend some time with Bruce Carter and Quan Sturdivant.
"I'd like to learn a couple of things from their linebackers, if I could, before they leave – Bruce Carter and Quan Sturdivant," Virgile said. "They're good defensive players. I want to learn something before they go."
