Butch Davis Visits Miami commitment

Ricardo Williams committed to Miami earlier this month but has met with the UNC staff twice within the last few days.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound defensive end from Homestead (Fla.) took an official visit to North Carolina this past weekend.

"They kept recruiting me and so I wanted to go up there and check it out," Williams said on Monday night. "We took a tour of the campus, hung out with the players, talked to the coaches. It was good. I went up there by myself but they had a few other recruits up there on visits."

What was his favorite part of the trip?

"My favorite part was meeting Coach Davis," he said. "He used to be at UM and has produced a lot of talent. I like him."

A day after returning home from that visit, Williams received a visit from UNC head coach Butch Davis.

"Coach Davis came by today," he said. "He was just talking, trying to get me to come up there."

Williams said despite the Tar Heel push, he remains committed to the Hurricanes.

"I'm still committed to Miami," he said. "That's where I'm gonna go. The Miami coaches should be coming down to see me this week."
