Anderson Enjoys UNC Atmosphere

After recently evaluating Rockville (Md.) Montrose Christian standout Justin Anderson, the UNC staff invited the 6-foot-6 junior wing prospect to visit Chapel Hill on Saturday.

"They called me to see how everything was," Anderson said. "They called my dad and asked if we could try and make it up. So we didn't have a game and we didn't have practice, so we decided to make a trip."

Anderson had floor seats for UNC's game against NC State. He raved about the atmosphere.

"I loved it," he said. "The environment was great. The guys played well. The coaching was great. Coach Williams was intense and I like that. He was intense the whole game.

"The atmosphere, I think was the best thing," Anderson added. "I was sitting right in front of the student section and I couldn't hear anything because it was so loud."

Following the Tar Heels' win, Anderson spent some time with Roy Williams.

"We talked for about 10 to 15 minutes and he talked about some great things," he said. "He talked about coming up to see me again and whenever we basically wanted to come back to give him or Coach Robinson a call and we are always welcome. It felt good to hear that."

"They told me that I could be great for their team if I were to go there, but they said of course that it comes with work. If you work as hard as you can and you earn it you'll be great for the program. "

Anderson also was able to speak with a couple of current and future players.

"I spoke to most of them and the ones I knew like Reggie (Bullock), Kendall (Marshall), (John) Henson. I saw P.J. Hairston down there. He took a trip there to watch the game. I talked to James (McAdoo) before I went down and he was doing his recruiting and telling me to commit."

Just last week Anderson did not mention UNC when giving a school list for an interview. He said that was just a mistake.

"It's been up and down, but they've been interested and I've been interested in them," Anderson said. "A couple of lists that I've made I just forgot to put them on. They are a great school and a great program."

"Carolina has always been in the mix," he added, noting that UNC has not yet offered. "It was just a school I forgot about and not in a bad way. I just have so much going on, worrying about my season. I just forgot about putting them in the top of my list. They are a great program as well."

"Maryland has a great program," he continued. "Duke has a great program and North Carolina has a great program. Right now I haven't sold myself to anyone yet. I'm open to all of them and just having fun with the process. I did like what I saw a lot at North Carolina."

Anderson, a four-star prospect, will likely return to the state of North Carolina for his next unofficial visit.

"As of right now, I'm not sure," Anderson said about his next future visit. "I think my next trip will be to Duke."
