2012 Intro: Kedrick Davis

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Inside Carolina profiles junior Kedrick Davis, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound athlete from Berry Academy.

Scouting Report

"His burst off the line gets him space and he's gone," Berry assistant coach Jonathan Simmons said. "If you miss his tackle, he's gone. He has a lot of speed and he's dangerous in the open field."

Prep Career

After not playing his sophomore season due to academic issues, Davis emerged as a threat at slot receiver for Berry Academy last season.

"We'd speed sweep him [and] we'd slot him," Simmons said. "Even though he's almost just as fast as Germone [Hopper], he's a great change of pace, because when [opponents] get so focused on [Hopper] we'd fake it to Germone and throw it to [Davis]."

Davis ended the season with 38 receptions for 780 yards (20.53-yard average) and 10 touchdowns, and 16 rushes for 106 yards (6.63-yard average) and a score.

"He still needs to develop his route running, which we're going to work on this summer," Simmons said. "We're actually going to hook him up with Steve Shipp, who is a local legend here, went to West Charlotte, and coached Mohammed Massaquoi and Hakeem Nicks."

Davis is also Berry's punt and kickoff returner. He averaged 55.4 yards on five punt returns and 32.33 yards on 12 kickoff returns.

Similar to on the football field, Davis is working in Hopper's shadows recruiting wise. He has, though, received interest from Clemson, Duke, East Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, NC State, and Virginia Tech.

"Schools are going to want to see him in camp to see him run routes," Simmons said. "On film, he runs a lot of bubble [screens and] runs a lot of vertical stuff. They want to see him make a lot of breaks, getting in and out of breaks.

"He's going to have a full camp schedule. Once he goes to all those places, he'll walk away with some offers."

Davis is looking at attending camps at UNC, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

During the football season, Davis attended games at Duke (versus Miami), UNC (versus Virginia Tech), and South Carolina (versus Arkansas).

Davis doesn't claim any favorite schools.

Extra Notes

Davis is a major part of Berry Academy's track and field team, running the 100- and 200-meter dashes and 4x100 relay. His personal bests are 10.9 seconds in the 100 and 22.5 seconds in the 200… Davis grew up a South Carolina fan as several of his family members are alums.
