JuCo LB to Visit UNC

North Carolina appears on the verge of making a late addition to its 2011 recruiting class from the JuCo ranks.

"I'm leaving for my [official] visit [Thursday] and I'm be returning from Carolina on Friday," Fabby Desir said. "I'm probably going to sign on Monday. The paperwork [to sign] is being sent to me [Thursday] after I go up."

Desir, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker who will graduate from Lackawanna (Pa.) College in May, began hearing from UNC in December.

"Last semester, [my grades] were kind of shaky, but then I brought them up," Desir said. "I took two extra courses to help. It wasn't so good at first. [UNC] wanted to wait on my grades before having me visit."

Besides UNC, Desir was hearing from Ball State, Miami, and Temple.

Desir considers himself verbally committed right now and says he will "most likely" sign with UNC.

"I want to see the campus first and then I'll be able to decide for sure if that's where I want to go," Desir said.

Desir has two years of eligibility remaining, plus a red-shirt season if needed.

"I want to come in, work hard, and contribute on special teams and at linebacker," Desir said.

During his high school career at Scranton (Pa.) High School, Desir played running back and defensive back. After playing his freshman season at safety for Lackawanna, he was moved to linebacker.

Desir ended his sophomore season at Lackawanna with 30 tackles (27 solo), including three for a loss, a forced fumble, and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
