Ohio WR Returns to Chapel Hill

Corey Smith and his uncle made the nine-hour drive to North Carolina on Saturday.

"It was good," the 6-foot, 168-pound wide receiver from Akron (Ohio) Buchtel said. "I liked it down there a lot."

The highlight of Smith's visit was Saturday night's basketball game against ACC rival Duke.

"There was a lot of spirit," Smith said. "I like the way the crowd was involved into everything. It was a real good game."

Prior to the basketball game, Smith was given a complete campus tour and also met individually with Charlie Williams, UNC's wide receivers coach.

"He just talked about how he can't wait for me to get back down [and] they really want me down there," Smith said. "He showed me some video."

Smith's itinerary included a meeting with Butch Davis, but that was postponed.

"I was going to talk to Coach Davis one-on-one, but my uncle said he wanted to wait for my parents to come down," Smith said.

Smith plans on returning to UNC with his parents in June as part of the Raw Talents camp tour.

Saturday's visit was Smith's third to the campus. Last summer, he camped at UNC as part of Raw Talent's camp tour and then returned to the school later that day by himself to speak to the coaches and tour the campus.

"Overall [UNC] is a good program," Smith said. "I like it."

Regardless, Smith, who claims approximately 20 scholarship offers, doesn't claim any favorite schools. He plans on establishing a list by the end of the summer.

"I'm looking to be able to play early, a good coaching staff, where I feel loved, [and] a winning program," Smith said. "Distance won't play a factor. Wherever I feel like I'm at home and will play, that's where I go no matter how far it is."

Besides UNC, Smith has visited Cincinnati, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Tennessee. He will return to Tennessee on April 16.
