Marshall Learns UNC's Plan

Keith Marshall has made several visits to North Carolina. During his most recent visit on Saturday, the 5-foot-11, 172-pound running back from Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook was shown how UNC would utilize him in its offense.

"I got a chance to watch film," Marshall said. "Coach [John] Shoop showed me some blocking schemes and told me different ways they could get me the ball."

Marshall's stay also included several conversations with Butch Davis.

"I [talked] with him a few times," Marshall said. "He just talked about his coaching career and the need for a running back in their offense that's a big play threat. He also talked about the benefits of coming in early and talked with my dad about some other stuff."

Marshall's visit was capped off with the UNC-Duke basketball game, which saw the Tar Heels win the regular season ACC title.

"The atmosphere was crazy," Marshall said.

Besides UNC, Marshall has visited Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

"I'd like to visit Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Notre Dame and some other schools over the next few months," Marshall said. "I don't have any visits planned yet though."

With the assistance of those visits, Marshall would ideally like to narrow his focus to five to ten schools by the end of the spring.

"I may narrow the list down but I haven't really made any real progress," Marshall said.

UNC can feel secure in its chances of making that list, regardless of whenever it's made.

"They'll make the cut," Marshall said.
