Houston Out Four Months

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina senior tailback Ryan Houston underwent successful surgery Thursday to repair the broken right scapula (shoulder blade) he injured last Saturday during the annual spring football game.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Jeffrey Spang and Dr. Alex Creighton at UNC Hospitals. Houston is expected to return to action in approximately four months.

The Charlotte, N.C. native led North Carolina with 713 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 2009. Houston red-shirted last season after being held out of the first five games while UNC officials worked with the NCAA to determine his eligibility status.
