Opening statement:
"It was a terrific college baseball game, well-pitched on both sides. Virginia's got an unbelievable club. We were hoping to tie the game, and play as late into the morning as we possibly could to keep everybody here till about 2:30 this morning. We had a few scoring opportunities, but Mayberry was lights out for them. They pitched exceptionally well. I was proud of our team. Anybody that says this round robin tournament leaves games that nobody cares about, I hope they were watching that game, because when two teams get out there after the first pitch is thrown nobody is really caring about that, so I hope we put that to rest. I thought both teams competed hard, and wanted to win."

Coach, is this a game where you would have liked to have just sat in the stands, and watched as opposed to manage?
"I pretty much did that. I just kind of stood over there. I enjoyed the heck out of that to be honest with you. I wish I could be that relaxed every game. As a fan I love the crowd. That was probably a fun game to watch as a fan. I think that's what they want with college baseball now with the new bats, and the pitching. It's about execution, getting a couple of bunts down, getting a two-out hit. That's kind of the way the game was played."

What do you hope to take out of the tournament in general heading into next week?
"We've got all of our pitchers lined up. That was the most important thing, not getting anybody hurt, line our pitching up, get everybody some work, get Michael Morin back out there. He hadn't pitched since last Saturday, and be ready for next week."

Virginia's been at the top of the rankings all season long, and you guys for whatever reason haven't gotten that level of respect, but four games in the last nine days have been dead even for the most part. You have won three of those games, but what does that say about the talent on this team and its ability to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament?
"Yeah, I think we've flown under the radar a little bit all year, and we like it that way. We don't need all of the attention on us. We just like going out there, and playing and just having fun. Virginia obviously is a great team. The consistency that they've shown over the last three or four years is pretty remarkable, and yeah, I think that says a lot about our team. We played them really well at home, and we played them really well tonight. We had our chances. We just didn't cash through on them."

What'd you think of the atmosphere tonight?
"It was pretty cool. It was a really good atmosphere for as late as it was. Virginia brought a good crowd. We brought a good crowd. It was a fun environment to play in."

Opening statement:
"It was a great win for us. North Carolina has a terrific ball club. We obviously found that out down in Chapel Hill a week ago what kind of club they have. These two guys sitting to my right had a lot to do with the success we had today. They pitched their hearts out. Cody Winiarski didn't know until 30 minutes before the game that he was going to start the ballgame, and comes out and really pitches a gem for us. I'm proud of him and all the guys tonight. It was a total team effort against a high quality club, who I believe should be a top eight national seed in North Carolina. They're as good a club as we've played all year, and hopefully we both meet at some point later on in the season. Overall it was a heck of a team win for us."

How big was it in the eighth when Whit got the 2-3-4 men up three, up three down?
"Well Whit Mayberry, he's waited his turn. It's probably three or four weeks since this guy has been on the mound in a game, I think VCU at the beginning of May was the last time he's pitched for us. That was a huge inning for us. It was obvious that we didn't have everybody available today going into the championship tomorrow, and Whit absolutely rose up for this team, and won the ballgame there for us at the end. Had he not pitched like that we wouldn't have won the ballgame. It was great to see it, and I'm proud of him. Now he's got the confidence that he needs, and I have the confidence in him moving into NCAA Tournament play next weekend."

Cody, how good was the defense behind you tonight?
"It was incredible. They played stellar all year for us pretty much. It gives me confidence. Reed made some catches out there in center field. Going back on the ball I made some mistakes, and [they] really picked me up. They've done that all year, and it just gives you confidence to know that when you fall back behind in the count you can just go at them, and attack hitters and let them work."
