* Ed Cota (Zalgiris Kaunas) is just one win away from playing for the Lithuanian League championship. Cota scored 13 points and had six assists as Zalgiris won on Saturday, 102-68, to take a 1-0 lead in a best-of-three semifinal series.

LANG SET FOR PLAYOFFS IN POLAND
* Kris Lang's rookie year in the Polish League (PLK) regular-season has concluded. His team, WTK Anwil Wloclawek, finished in second-place with a mark of 26-6.
After coming off the bench for several weeks, Lang started last Thursday and led Anwil to victory scoring a season-high 23 points (10-14 FG, 3-4 FT), and bringing down seven rebounds.
Lang played in 31 of Anwil's 32 Polish League games and averaged 23.7 minutes, 10.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He shot 55.3% (126-228) from the field and 52.7% (58-110) from the free throw line. He also blocked 31 shots.
The 8-team PLK playoffs begin on May 3rd.
FORTE FACES GUN AND DRUG CHARGES
* After being stopped last Thursday for speeding in Harford County, Maryland, said to be going 90-mph in a 65-mph zone, Joseph Forte was arrested for possession of marijuana and a .22-caliber pistol.
The Seattle Times reported on Saturday that Forte was unavailable for comment and the Seattle SuperSonics had no comment.
The Times story also stated that Forte has a $1.1 million contract with the Sonics for next season but he is not expected to return to Seattle following a season of little playing (86 minutes in 27 games) and some negative off-court behavior.
The case has a trial date of July 10.
MELENDEZ WINS OPENER
* Orlando Melendez made the most of his 13 minutes on the court last Thursday as he tallied 11 points for San German in a 106-90 Puerto Rican League season-opening win.
Former Virginia Cavalier star Junior Burrough led the way for San German with 24 points, on 12-21 shooting, and grabbed nine rebounds.
