UNC Offers Parker

After a tremendous summer on the AAU circuit, Scout.com's No. 1 player in 2013, Jabari Parker, had national attention and numerous offers. But up until Thursday night, Carolina had yet to offer the five-star small forward.

That changed Thursday night when Parker, received an offer from Roy Williams through his Mother, Lola.

"His mother (Lola), talked to Roy Williams last night and he made the offer," Jabari's father Sonny told Inside Carolina. "We've been talking to North Carolina for a while now but Coach Williams has been busy and we finally had a chance to talk. They've been out at Jabari's games during the summer."

Parker, a 6-8, 222-pound rising junior from Chicago (Ill.) Simeon, is currently in Portland for the Nike Global Games and didn't speak directly to Roy Williams last night but Sonny said the two would speak when Jabari returns to Chicago.

"Jabari is in Portland right now focused on the Nike Global Games, but when he's back (in Chicago) he'll speak with Roy Williams," Sonny said.

Sonny Parker, a former star at Texas A&M and, first round draft pick of the Golden State Warriors, said Jabari is currently wide-open in the recruiting process.

"We don't really have a top-5 or any of that," Sonny said. "Right now we're concentrating on school and making sure Jabari does well on his test scores."

The plan is for Jabari and the Parker family to take their time in making a collegiate decision.

"It's going to be about building relationships with the coaches and going through the whole process," Sonny said. "We'll take unofficial visits, official visits, and have in-home visits. It'll be Jabari's decision, but (our family) and (Simeon head coach) Rob (Smith) will be involved as well."
