"I'm ready, I'm ready," Tarczewski said. "It's been a long process and it will be a relief to get it over with. I'm getting close. I'll go home, sit down with my family and circle and get everything decided hopefully before school starts. If not, then hopefully a few weeks into school.
"I have some really good schools and I want to make a good decision. It's going to be one of the biggest decisions of my life and I want to make the right decision and make sure it's where I'm going to be happiest."
Tarczewski claimed that he doesn't have an idea who he'll chose yet - "It's a shootout right now," he said - and that he's gone back and forth on who to select over time.
"That's kind of how everything is, there have been ups and downs multiple times," Tarczewski said. "One day you think this is better, the next day you think that's better. After your visits, you think that's the greatest place but then you go someplace else and you say that it's good too.
"It definitely has gone up and down but the best school will come out on top."
He broke down his four finalists ...
North Carolina: "UNC is coaching staff is great people. I really like coach Roy Williams and I always have great conversations with him. I think it's a family atmosphere and the academics at UNC are great. Not only would I go for basketball but I'd also get a really good education. The players there are all really good kids."
Kansas: "I love the coaching staff. They have been on me the longest so I really feel comfortable with them. I've been out there four times so I feel pretty comfortable with the school. My AAU point guard from last year, Naadir Tharpe, is there and he's a great kid and he's kind of a Gabe York kind of player, he makes the game much easier for the bigs.
"I like the kids on the team and obviously coach (Danny) Manning; their coaching staff is kind of made for big players. If I'm a 7-footer and I go there, they'll really hone my skills and hopefully get me to where I want to be."
Arizona: "Coach (Sean) Miller and his coaching staff are great people. I like how they're upbeat and I really just have a good feeling about coach Miller; he's a great guy. Obviously the kids they're bringing in are all great players. They're really developing their program."
Kentucky: "They started recruiting me late. Coach (John) Calipari seems like a really good guy. Their school kind of speaks for itself with basketball. They have great fan support."
