Are Heels pursuing Alex Johnson?

With the need for immediate post help, it's clear North Carolina is trying to land Linas Kleiza, but what about Alexander Johnson? Are the Tar Heels actively pursuing the elite prep school star?

In an 11th hour effort to land a big man that can come in and help next season, it appears as though North Carolina's inquiry into Bridgton Academy (Maine) big man Alexander Johnson went unanswered.

The 6-9, 245-pound Johnson, who spent a year under coach Whit Lesure at the Maine prep school this season after failing to qualify to attend Georgia a year ago, will likely choose from Cincinnati, Florida State and UConn this weekend after heading home to Albany, Georgia.

"He's happy with those three," Lesure said. "It's true that Carolina has tried to get involved, but he basically said, 'no thanks' to them."

Johnson is a versatile forward ranked in the Top 25 in his class. Now it's likely that Roy Williams will turn his full efforts to Montrose Christian (Md.) senior power forward Linas Kleiza.
