Carter Still On UNC Radar

The North Carolina staff watched many of the top rising senior post players throughout July, closely evaluating the field to sort out its recruiting board for the three months leading up to the Fall Signing Period. Included in that group was Robert Carter.

"Yeah I have [heard from UNC since July]," Carter said. "They are showing strong interest and they are involved."

Carter, a 6-9, 245-pound big man ranked No. 19 overall in the 2012 class by Scout.com, is also being recruited by Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Ohio State, Kentucky and others.

He's not yet been able to cut down his list to a final five, nor has he set up any visits yet for the fall - though the topic of visiting has come up with the UNC staff.

"They want me to visit; they say they really like me," said Carter, who recently transferred to Lithonia (Ga.) Shiloh.

While a number of other post prospects have recently received Tar Heel offers, Carter said North Carolina has yet to offer.

"It might be soon," he said of an offer. "I don't know."

During summer ball, Carter played with the Atlanta Xpress and established himself as one of the top low post scorers in the country. He has a great set of hands and a number of moves on the block.

In a class full of talented big men, Carter checks in at No. 8 on Scout.com's 2012 center list.
