Noel Looking to Visit

HARBOR CITY, Calif. - The top defensive player in the country – Nerlens Noel – is among the most talked about recruits in the 2013 class. Schools are trailing his every move and he's struggling to keep up.

In fact, Noel, a standout at Tilton (N.H.) School, isn't listing schools at this point because he's yet to narrow it down to a working list.

"I have a list of about 15 schools coming out in early September but until then I can't remember all of them off the top of my head," Noel said from the Boost Mobile Elite 24 festivities.

Among the schools we know are involved include North Carolina, Kentucky, Syracuse, Providence and Duke. The Tar Heels have upped their interest recently and Noel is hoping to visit in the near future.

"North Carolina has been showing more interest," Noel said. "I'm looking to make a visit to Chapel Hill pretty soon. It's a good program. I like their staff and coach Roy Williams. I'll be looking to make a visit soon."

Noel, the No. 3 prospect in the 2013 class, is impressed with Carolina's history and consistent success.

"It's a good tradition, they rarely have a losing season, they always bring in good all-around players that know how - and want - to win," Noel added. "I think it's a good system and they have a great history."

At this point, Noel has yet to set up any unofficial dates, but he's currently working on a date with Florida.

"It's not finalized but I think I'm going to visit Florida in the next month," he said.

Noel had a terrific July with the BABC AAU program, where he led the squad to a Peach Jam championship. He concluded his summer run with the Elite 24 game on Saturday.

With the news over the weekend that top 2012 center Andre Drummond will reclassify to the 2011 class in order to enroll at college a year early and expedite his route to the NBA, speculation has turned to Noel to follow that path and move up to 2012, the class he began with.

"There's potential for me to move back to 2012 – I've got to figure out how fast I could make a decision," Noel said. "I've been thinking about it."
