Ramsay Out for Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- North Carolina senior fullback Devon Ramsay tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in Saturday's 42-10 victory over James Madison.

Ramsay, a native of Red Bank, N.J., will undergo season-ending surgery next week at UNC Hospitals.

Ramsay started the season opener and had an 18-yard reception.

North Carolina will pursue a sixth-year of eligibility with the NCAA for Ramsay, who redshirted in 2007 with a shoulder injury.

As a junior in 2010, he played in the first four games of the season before being withheld from the final nine contests. He was initially ruled permanently ineligible by the NCAA as part of the UNC investigation but was later cleared.

Senior Curtis Byrd is now listed atop UNC's depth chart this week at fullback. Byrd started in place of Ramsay for the last nine games last season while Ramsay was being withheld.
