Football awards kept piling on as well, as Nick was selected to compete in the Governors' Bowl in mid-July. The Governors' Bowl pits outstanding players from New York against all-stars from New Jersey. The game will be played in Rutgers Stadium.
Cangelosi plans to visit Chapel Hill again on June 21 in order to meet with academic advisors. He chose not to take summer school classes due to his participation in the Governors' Bowl.
"I can't wait to get to Chapel Hill," he said. " We'll start working out with Coach [Jeff] Connors and maybe play a little 7-on-7."
Camden Catholic teammate and future Tar Heel linebacker Joe Kedra is not sure if he will enroll in summer classes. He said he does not plan on playing in the Governors' Bowl.
Orientation in Chapel Hill is June 23 and Kedra will be in town for that. Kedra and his parents will decide on summer school soon. He says that the coaches are expecting him to play on special teams his freshman year.
Kedra came down for the spring game and was impressed by running back Ronnie McGill.
"I guess I was surprised at the quality of the class we wound up with after the record last year," Kedra said. "I can't wait to play with these guys."
