Tar Heels in NBA Summer Leagues Preview

The pro summer hoops season got underway over the weekend and this is what we know so far ...

Dante Calabria is with the L.A. Lakers in the Southern California Summer Pro League, which runs through July 21 for NBA teams. Calabria scored 13 points on 4-11 shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds in 32 minutes in a 102-97 victory over Memphis on Saturday.

Jeff McInnis of the Clippers is freelancing with the NBA Pros along with Bo Outlaw and Penny Hardaway. Jeff netted 20 (8-12 FG) points in a win over Terraza. The L.A. Clippers SCSPL-entry lists Makhtar Ndiaye, as does Terraza.

The SCSPL has 10 NBA teams and is being played at Long Beach State University.

The Orlando Summer Professional League will be played from July 12-14 and features the Pistons, Bucks, Timberwolves and host Orlando Magic. The playing status of Brendan Haywood is not known at this time.

Five Tar Heels will be in the Shaw's Pro Summer League, tipping off on July 16 at UMass-Boston. Look for Ademola Okulaja with San Antonio, Ed Cota with Indiana, Max Owens and Kevin Salvadori with Philadelphia and Joseph Forte making his pro debut with the Celtics.

The summer season for those trying to impress NBA teams concludes with the Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City, Utah from July 20 to July 28 with 10 NBA teams represented.
