UNC among leaders for Middleton

Alonzo Middleton, a 6-2, 230-pound linebacker from Orangeburg (S.C.) Wilkinson has his first scholarship offer and a group of three leaders -- and the Tar Heels are one of them.

Orangeburg-Wilkinson (SC) linebacker Alonzo Middleton says he cannot complain about recruiting, or his new coach.

"We have two days left in spring ball. It has been a progressive spring dealing with a new coach and a new system," says the 6-foot-2, 230 pounder who admis he will be okay this season. "Once we adjust to the system, it will be no problem at all."

In the midst of yearly finals, Middleton says he has not really taken a hard look at recruiting.

"My last final is tomorrow, but I cannot go celebrate since we still have another day of practice after that."

Schools are still stopping by to see all of the O-W players, including Notre Dame and North Carolina in the past week. Middleton does, even in spite of the finals, admit he has four favorites.

"Notre Dame, North Carolina, and South Carolina are my three favorites. East Carolina has offered, so I would put them up there with the other three. South Carolina says they have offered, but it is not in writing so I do not know if it is real."

Middleton also has several camps on the agenda this summer.

"I am going to the Duke one day camp, North Carolina State's one-day, Notre Dame's three day, North Carolina's one day, and I am not sure about South Carolina's camp yet."
