Kapilovic, who has been Fedora's offensive line coach the past four seasons and added the duty of run game coordinator in the spring of 2010, hasn't been officially hired as an UNC assistant coach. However, he is among the ten coaches permitted to recruit on the Tar Heels behalf.
Davis, a 5-foot-9, 157-pound wide receiver from Charlotte (N.C.) Berry, promised UNC's interim head coach, Everett Withers, that as long as Withers was on the Tar Heels staff he wouldn't officially visit any other schools. With Fedora's hiring coupled with Withers likely headed to Ohio State, Davis scheduled an official visit with Louisville for this past weekend.
"To be honest with you, I'm still firm [to UNC] – 100-percent," Davis said. "I just took the visit to Louisville to see other places. Louisville is a good place – I liked it [and] I could see myself there."
Despite the self-proclaimed firmness of his UNC commitment, Davis plans on scheduling one last official visit – to Kentucky in January.
Since he has already officially visited UNC, Davis plans to take an official visit-style unofficial trip to UNC in January to meet Fedora and the rest of the Tar Heels' new staff.
"I'll find out more about [the January unofficial visit] whenever [the UNC staff] is there [on campus]," Davis said. "I might talk about it when [Kapilovic] when he calls me later this week."
While his conversation with Kapilovic with brief, Davs spoke at length with Fedora when he called. "He just said he was excited about being the coach at North Carolina, he was glad to have me, and be ready to catch a lot of balls because we're going to throw the ball around," Davis said. "I was very thrilled and excited, because he was so energetic and he kept it real with me."
UNC's previous coaching staff heavily recruited Davis' teammates Germone Hopper, who has committed to Clemson, and Nick Dawson. Fedora told Davis he plans to recruit at least one of his two teammates.
"Coach Fedora said he was going after Germone," Davis said. "I'm not sure if he's talked to Nick. I don't think Nick is still interested in North Carolina. He really hasn't said anything to anybody, but I don't think he's coming to North Carolina."
