Opening comments:
"Hats off to a very good Missouri team. Very well prepared. I thought the quarterback was an excellent quarterback. [James] Franklin, you couldn't hardly get to him to rattle him. I thought they did a great job with four- and five-receiver sets in getting our linebackers moved. They had an excellent game plan. We just didn't make enough plays on either side of the football to stop a very good football team."

On how his team came out:
"I think when you play bowl games, sometimes you don't know what you're going to get in the first half. I thought our kids came back and fought hard. Again, we played a very good opponent."

Do you think the coaching change created a distraction coming into the bowl game?
"Let me tell you – we've had issues for two years, so I don't know why tonight would be a distraction."

Did this game feel different for you?
"It felt like another bowl game."

BRYN RENNER

On the momentum change after the opening touchdown:
"We had a great first drive and really felt like after Dwight made that great catch that we had momentum and then just really couldn't get things going. We missed a couple of third-down conversions, but really we just didn't play well as an offense."

Did the offense feel any pressure to score knowing how potent Missouri's offense is?
"Yes, definitely. You've got to give them all of the credit. Their defense played well and we didn't play to the best of our abilities on offense. And when they can score quick… They were just the better team tonight."

GIO BERNARD

What did they do to limit your effectiveness?
"They had a good game plan going in. I think defenses that are able to stop running backs or stop the run game, they just go into it real focused and they know what they're doing. They basically just play their roles. They cause turnovers. My fumble, that was on me. I apologized to the guys. But small things like that really slow down an offense."

At what point do you focus on the future?
"I'm still lingering on this game. I think that won't really kick in until we get back on Jan. 9 and start talking to the new coaching staff. But for the most part, this entire break that we have coming up, I'll be lingering on this game. If you don't care that much, if it goes away in a day or two, I think that game doesn't mean much to you at all."

QUINTON COPLES

On the loss:
"It's very disappointing. We were all set on winning the game. Unfortunately, we didn't. Other than that, we just swallow it and move on. Like I told the other guys, get prepared for next year."

What's your next step?
"Basically, right now, I'm just going to go home and get prepared for the next step in my life, which is the NFL. So I'm going to take a few days off with my family and then prepare for the NFL after that."
