Fieulleteau: 'It Was The Right Time'

Jordan Fieulleteau woke up on Monday morning with a clear focus: it was time to become a Tar Heel. After calling UNC head coach Larry Fedora, the Raleigh (N.C.) Wakefield junior wide receiver talked to InsideCarolina.com about his decision and his plans to recruit others to join him.

You've been leaning towards UNC for a while now, what made you want to make the verbal commitment now?

"I felt like it was the right time when I woke up this morning. I talked to my mom about it last night and we just had a heart-to-heart. She supports my decision and I couldn't ask for more."

When you were talking to your mom, what did you two discuss?

"There were really no cons – that was the thing. Everything was just positive about the school itself. We were just like, ‘This is the right decision.' I woke up this morning and told her I was going to do it."

What role did Wednesday's junior day play in your decision?

"It was a great experience. It allowed me to better get to know the coaches and spend time with them."

What role did Gunter Brewer have on your decision?

"He had a pretty significant role, because he's coached so many good receivers in the past – so many great receivers that are in the NFL and great college receivers. So that was a big factor. I just want to follow in their footsteps and hopefully he can get me to where I want to be."

When did you inform coach Larry Fedora?

"I called him at 4:17. He was really excited, but I had to call him back because he was on a plane. So I called him back around 6:30. He was ecstatic then too."

How does it feel now that you've made the commitment?

"It feels so great. I feel like I've lost like 30 pounds. It's just a huge monkey lifted off of my back. It just feels good."

There's been a lot of discussion about UNC recruiting a "NC Dream Team." Are you planning on helping with that objective?

"I'm going to try to get some great players in the state. I'm going to try to get the best players we can get to play with me at the University of North Carolina so we can come together and do what we're planning on doing."

Who will be your main targets?

"I'm going to try Connor [Mitch], trust me, Corey Cooper, Tyquan Lewis, Marquez North – I'm going to try to talk to anybody that was at the junior day. I'm going to talk to D-linemen, O-linemen. I don't care [what position they play] – just anyone that's going to help us win a championship."
