UNC offers NJ lineman

Inside Carolina has learned that Plainfield (N.J.) offensive lineman Steve Council received an offical offer from UNC on Friday.

Council lists the Tar Heels as his leader, followed by Central Florida, Rutgers, Michigan State, N.C. State and Iowa, Plainfield assistant coach Frank Colabella said.

Following a recent camp visit, he received the Lineman of the Camp Award.

Teammate Dana Hart, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound defensive end-tight end, also attended the camp and impressed the UNC coaching staff as well. Hart had the best vertical jump (33.5 feet) and best shuttle time for all defensive linemen (4.37 seconds) attending the camp, Colabella said.

Hart received the Surprise of the Camp Award.

Both Council and Hart have already qualified academically.
