During the summer months, previously unknown players on a national level get a chance to display their talents and prove their worth.
Brad Buckman is one such player.
The 6-9, 210-pound rising senior bigman from Austin (TX) Westlake has watched his stock skyrocket, as coaches and gurus are catching on.
Schools such as Illinois and UCLA are jumping in the race, and "North Carolina will likely try and get involved as well," writes Dave Telep of BlueChipHoops.com.
"The reality is that while there are 25 guys with larger names, there probably aren't 25 better players in the class," Telep said. "This forward is athletic, can handle it some, blocks shots, shoots to medium-range and scores in the post."
He's drawn physical comparisons to Troy Murphy and "is a really tough guy inside and a fairly skilled passer and shooter to boot," said Rob Harrington of PrepStars.com.
