Roy Williams Offers Pinson

After watching Theo Pinson's All-Tournament performance at the Nike Global Challenge last week, Roy Williams extended a scholarship offer to the rising junior from High Point (N.C.) Wesleyan.

The North Carolina head coach made the offer during a lengthy telephone call with Pinson on Monday night, his father confirmed.

"He had a long conversation with Coach Williams last night," Theo Pinson Sr. said. "We wanted to be sure, so he told us we could let everyone know that Theo has a scholarship offer to North Carolina."

Pinson -- who measured in at the Nike Skills Academy last month at 6-5.5 and 181 pounds, with a a 6-10 wingpsan -- has made three trips to Chapel Hill within the last year. He stopped by during the summer, then returned for a game in December against Long Beach State, and two months later attended UNC's rivalry clash with Duke.

New UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis informed Pinson on June 15 of this year that the Tar Heels would be watching him closely, and sure enough last week Roy Williams watched Pinson for two days at the Nike Global Challenge.

Pinson's All-Tournament showing included a 23-point, 10-rebound outing matched up against No. 1-ranked Andrew Wiggins.

The Tar Heels join Connecticut, Georgetown, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, NC State, Ohio State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest on his offered list.

Pinson is ranked the No. 16 prospect overall in the 2014 class by Scout.com.
