Crowder Tours UNC

Tyrone Crowder has made several visits to North Carolina. However, it wasn't until Friday that the 6-foot-2, 325-pound offensive guard received an in-depth tour of UNC's campus.

"I just got to see a different aspect of the school," Crowder said. "I never really saw the academic side of the school [during previous visits]. The campus was nice I loved how everything was laid out."

Alex Norton, Crowder's Rockingham (N.C.) Richmond County line-mate, accompanied Crowder on the visit. While not as highly regarded as Crowder - who the third ranked offensive guard in the nation, by Scout.com - Norton is also being recruited by UNC.

In addition to the campus tour, Crowder's stay included conversations with Chris Kapilovic, UNC's offensive line coach.

"He didn't really talk much about recruiting," Crowder said. "He just talked about the summer. He just tried to keep it real with me."

Crowder has been attempting to assemble a list of finalists for quite some time. He initially wanted to announce that list in May, but has continuously postponed the decision.

"Right now, it's a slow process," Crowder said. "I think I'm getting close to narrowing it down. I'm getting done with my summer visits. Right before the season starts I should have my list."

Besides UNC, Crowder has visited Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, and South Carolina this summer. He has also made trips to NC State and Wake Forest. He doesn't have any future summer trips planned.

Crowder is unsure when he'll make a verbal commitment – or if he'll need official visits to make that decision.

"It's just when it feels right," Crowder said.
