Alston Adjusting His Plan

Johnathan Alston originally planned to take some official visits before making his decision, but that is likely not going to happen. With schools filling up early, he will make his commitment a little earlier than he originally planned to.

"I always thought I would take some official visits first and then commit, but spots are filling up, so I may not be able to wait that long now," Alston said. "I think I will be committing to someone in the next two to three weeks. I feel pretty sure about that right now."

A number of schools have offered the 6-foot-3, 195 pound athlete including Arkansas, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, but it is the two in-state schools who sit atop his list.

"It is really down to North Carolina and North Carolina State. Those are my top two schools and I will likely commit to one of those here pretty soon."

Alston has visited each school and he likes the same thing about the Tar Heels and the Wolfpack.

"I really like the coaches at each school and they both make me feel comfortable when I am around them.

"At UNC, it is Coach [Gunter] Brewer and at N.C. State, it is Coach [Troy] Walters - I get along with both of those guys really well and I like them a lot."

It is not going to be an easy decision for this star athlete out of Bunn.

"I like the same things about the schools and the coaches are great, so it is going to be a tough decision," he said. "I am really looking at who I think is going to win the most and that is likely the school I am going to pick. I want to be at a school that will win in the future."

A number of schools are recruiting Alston to play outside linebacker, but his top two schools are recruiting him to play wide receiver.
