Alston received official scholarship offers from UNC, NC State, and Notre Dame. However, he has limited his focus to the two in-state schools.
"They're local and they both want me as a wide receiver," Alston said.
Between those two rivals, Alston says he's not leaning in any direction.
"I don't know what's going to break the tie," Alston said. "It's going to be tough."
Alston has visited both UNC and NC State several times. His most recent visits occurred in June when he participated in the Tar Heels' camp and then visited NC State a week later.
Originally, Alston was going to wait until later in the fall to make a verbal commitment. However, the pace of the recruiting process has sped up Alston's timetable.
"I was going to wait until officials, but spots are filling up fast," Alston said.
Further complicating Alston's situation is that Bunn kicks off the 2012 season in less than a week.
On Friday, Bunn participated in the Corinth Holders Jamboree for its final scrimmage action before its opener. Alston saw significant time on both offense and defense catching three passes, including two for scores, and being in on a handful of tackles.
"We came out strong," Alston said. "We kind of slacked off on defense today, but that's okay. It's just a scrimmage and I think we'll be ready for our first game."
