UVa pushes for early verbal from '03 guard

J.R. Reynolds

One look at the IC Message Board and you can tell the recruiting game is changing. After all, the rising junior Stewart twins are discussed almost daily.

So, it comes as little surprise that Virginia has already offered a scholarship to rising junior J.R. Reynolds, a combo guard from Roanoke (Va.) Catholic. Cavs coach Pete Gillen hopes for a commitment before other national powerhouse schools get involved.

"UVa has offered me an early scholarship already, thinking I might do something early," Reynolds told the Roanoke Times. "[The Tar Heels] were thinking about offering me an early scholarship. Other schools, I think they might wait till my junior year."

The Carolina staff most likely won't be making that scholarship offer anytime soon.
