And they're off...

GREENSBORO, Ga. – Atlantic Coast Conference media, coaches and selected players convene Sunday about 80 miles east of Atlanta to officially open the football preseason.

Inside Carolina is on hand at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge on Reynolds Plantation to beam back daily reports and photos for the duration of 2003 ACC Football Kickoff.

Normally the most anticipated development from this event is the vote for the predicted regular season finish. Regarded as the ACC's official preseason rankings, this year's order is as in doubt as any since Bobby Bowden and Florida State effectively annexed the league in 1992 to be used as it's own gridiron fodder.

In past seasons, the Bowden family patriarch has reigned over the festivities with merriment and mirth. But this year, he will face many tough questions concerning former quarterback Adrian McPherson as well as issues concerning the Seminoles' potential slip from the upper tier of NCAA programs.

In addition a most prevalent sidebar will top the agenda, as the ACC coaches and players will field countless questions about the league's recent expansion.

The press conferences get underway Sunday afternoon when local and national scribes will grill two top players from each team extensively.

Then on Monday, following the annual media and coaches' golf outing, each of the nine coaches will hold court at their own table amidst a throng of reporters.

Finally on Tuesday, ACC commissioner John Swofford will host his Football Forum, for what should be one of the more interesting episodes of this event.
