Martins Make First UNC Trip

UNC's recruitment of Mocksville (N.C.) Davie County 2014 twins Caleb and Cody Martin reached a different level on Saturday. They took their first visit to Chapel Hill as UNC targets.

After arriving and meeting with Hubert Davis – who has taken the lead on their recruitment – the 6-7 junior twins toured UNC's basketball facilities, as well as Roy Williams's offices.

"They showed us all of the history on their walls and told us why they decided to put it there," Caleb Martin said. "After the offices, we saw the players' lounge and the Carolina basketball museum."

The Martins plan to make a return trip to spend more time with the head coach.

"He was kind of busy, so we didn't get to talk to him as much as we liked or he would've liked," said Martin. "We were going to go up there this Friday for Late Night with Roy, but he wants us to come at a better time when he can talk with us more. We'll figure out a time this fall so we can make that happen."

Along with 2013 UNC commitment Isaiah Hicks and 2014 point guard target Shelton Mitchell, the Martins walked into Kenan Stadium with members of the basketball team just prior to kickoff of UNC's win over Virginia Tech.

"It was pretty awesome," Martin said. "Everyone knows who the players are and everyone was yelling their names and wanting to take pictures with them. You can tell how much people support basketball at Carolina."

With offers from N.C. State, VCU, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Miami, the Martins are looking to make a college decision by the end of their junior basketball season.

"We want to get it done in a reasonable time," said Martin. "We're not going to wait until last minute."

As for UNC's interest, the Martins are still getting a feel for the Tar Heel coaching staff's style.

"I think they like us, but I don't know if they're one of the most interested schools," Martin explained. "Maybe they just like to see more. I guess they want to see more of us to see exactly how interested they will be."
