UNC has received a verbal commitment for the class of 2002 from Jessica Sell, a 5-11 guard/forward from North Marion High School in West Virginia.

Sell presently plays point guard for North Marion but can play anywhere from point to power forward. The lefty averaged 25 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks a game. She lead her division (AAA division of the N.C.A.C. conference) and tri-county area (Marion, Monongalia, Preston) in scoring and rebounding for the past two seasons.

North Marion played in the highly competitive Beach Ball Classic Holiday Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. last season and finished second overall, with Sell winning Most Outstanding Player honors. In 77 minutes of play, she scored 80 points, yanked down 45 rebounds and had 19 steals - talk about a productive tournament!

Sell has already built quite a hoops resume, highlights include All-Tournament for the NCAC Sectionals for freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, first team All-State as a junior/second team as a sophomore and nominee for WV Player of the Year as a junior.

She has competed in 17-under AAU tournaments starting at 15 years old - last year as a 16 year old in the 17-under nationals, she averaged 20 points a game and her high game was 34 points.

Lucky us, fans who want an early peek at Sell can catch her this weekend and next week (July 6-14) in Winston-Salem at the Girls 16-under AAU national tournament playing for the WV Glory. The WV Glory are in Pool F, team #2. They will play:
