Booker's Day On The Hill

Devin Booker spent this past weekend in North Carolina, which included Saturday in Chapel Hill.

The class of 2014 five-star shooting guard from Moss Point (Miss.) High began his UNC visit by experiencing the Carolina Basketball Museum.

"That was great to see all the history," Booker said. "It's one of the best programs in college basketball with Jordan and all the national championships.

'That was really nice. I had never heard of the museum and once they took me they had everything for Jordan. The National Letter of Intent and the letter that Coach K sent him when he went to North Carolina."

After seeing the museum, Booker headed to the Smith Center to witness UNC's pregame activities.

"Before the game I was in the locker room with the players," he said. "I liked how Roy got his team ready to go and they got a big [win]."

As for the game itself - in which the Tar Heels defeated N.C. State - Booker said he enjoyed the charged atmosphere.

"It was crazy," Booker said. "I sat courtside and I had the student section behind me. The people behind me were doing a lot of talking and messing around with me."

Following the game, Booker met with Roy Williams.

"It was good," he said. "My (family) really enjoyed talking to Roy too. He talked a lot about how I fit into their system and how he likes my game. He knew my dad played at Missouri so they talked a lot and told a lot of stories.

"They said they're losing a lot of wings and are looking for two wings," he added. "They have the replacement at the point guard with Joel Berry. They said they have their bigs with Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks and they said they need two more wings out of my class. That's what they are looking for."

The topic of a scholarship offer didn't come up during their conversation, but Booker he thinks that'll come once Roy Williams watches him in the near future. Thus far, UNC assistant Steve Robinson has been heading the recruitment since last year, most recently visiting Moss Point High earlier this month.

"Roy hasn't seen me play in person yet," Booker said. "I think once he comes down to see me play he will."

Overall, Booker gave the trip good reviews and said UNC certainly helped themselves.

"It was a great trip," Booker said. "It was the first visit that my dad's been on with me. That was exciting. He's enjoying the process just like me because he wasn't heavily recruited and now he's sitting here talking to Roy williams. He was excited about that."

"I enjoyed myself. The fans showed me a good time. I got to see a lot of cool things."

What sticks out about Carolina the most?

"Carolina has a great history with all the great players that have played there," Booker said. "From the Jordan logo to everything. Roy said the players still come back and they have had so many good players."

Following his trip to UNC, Booker drove over to Duke to see its game on Sunday. The Blue Devils officially offered Booker while he was on their campus.
