Henderson Helping Build UNC Class

COLUMBUS, Ohio --- Lake Braddock (Va.) quarterback Caleb Henderson, a North Carolina commitment, talks about who he is trying to get to join him in Chapel Hill and how he has been working to improve his game.

At this weekend's Elite 11 Regional in Columbus, a newer, slimmed Caleb Henderson competed and says he feels notable improvement between now and this same time last year.

"I definitely feel like I have improved a lot. During the season I was about 235, and now I'm 220, so I've cut a lot of weight, gained a lot of speed and strength too, so I definitely feel way different than last year."

Henderson accumulated an impressive list of offers before deciding on North Carolina. He says he just had that right feeling about the school and the people there.

"I just fell in love with UNC. I really enjoy the school, the environment at the school, and the coaches. I love every single one of the coaches. They're amazing people and I want to be surrounded by amazing people."

An important part of having an early quarterback commitment is being able to build a class around him and Henderson is doing his part to make sure his signing class is a good one.

"The top guys I'm trying to bring in are Josh Allen, an offensive lineman, Demornay Pierson-El, a running back out of Virginia - I've played with him since 6th grade, he's one of my best friends and one of the most underrated players in the country, I think. M.J. Stewart, a corner from Yorktown, and a defensive lineman from T.C. Williams (Jeremiah Clark)."

Henderson feels confident, saying "I feel like I can grab them in."

He is just as confident in his own future, as he knows there is an opportunity there for him when he gets to Chapel Hill.

"'Compete right away,' they said. I'm going to have a chance. Even if I come in the summer as opposed to winter, I have a good chance of starting that year."

Will he end up enrolling early?

"I don't know yet. My family and I are still making that decision."
