Artis Makes The Call

The Tar Heels secured their second Georgia safety of the night, as Allen Artis gave the UNC staff the word late Saturday night. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety from Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler chose UNC over 20 other offers.

"I am ending my recruitment - I committed to UNC," Artis announced.

UNC was the first school to offer Artis, and he made his first visit to Chapel Hill in February.

Since then, he received a slew of offers, including: Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, NC State, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

"Thanks to everyone that's helped me to accomplish this dream," he added. "Feels good to be a Tar Heel!"

Artis, whose father Johnny played football at Wake Forest in the late ‘80s, accumulated 140 tackles and three interceptions during his junior season.
