Richardson Hearing From UNC

College coaches could begin calling 2015 recruits on Saturday. Among the prospects that North Carolina reached out to was Roselle (N.J.) Catholic wing forward Malachi Richardson.

Richardson talked to UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis.

"They are interested, but I haven't received an offer yet," Richardson said.

"They told me they are going to stay in touch and build the relationship and they'll see me at Peach Jam."

Richardson said the Tar Heels also talked to him about a trip to Chapel Hill.

"They said they want to get me on campus as soon as possible and I can make a trip down," the 6-5 wing said.

"I plan to take a trip to North Carolina."

Richardson's offer list is growing quickly.

"It's been going pretty well," he said of his recruitment. "I've picked up offers from Minnesota, Arizona, Connecticut and Florida. Recruiting is picking up."

Richardson also cited scholarship offers from Indiana, Ohio State, Miami, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Cincinnati, SMU and James Madison.

"It's still pretty early," he said about the process. "I haven't chopped the list down yet."

To go with wanting to visit North Carolina, Richardson said he's aiming to visit a few other schools.

"I plan to visit Syracuse, UConn, Florida and Indiana," Richardson said. "It'll be after July."

On the court, Richardson has faired well, helping lead Team Final to a Peach Jam invite. He also had a strong performance at the Nike Elite 100, which is a showcase for some of the best underclassmen in the country.

"It was fun," he said of the Elite 100. "I played pretty well. I believe I came out of the camp Top Five and I got an invite to Lebron.

"I was able to work on things and was able to do some things I've been working on in the gym at home," he added.

Richardson is currently the No. 2 ranked small forward in the 2015 class by Scout.com.
