A.J. Nicholson talks about North Carolina

Nicholson talks about his early "soft" commitment and where he stands now with North Carolina.

Inside Carolina talked with All-American Linebacker A. J. Nicholson concerning his status with his verbal commitment with the University of North Carolina. A. J. listed is his height at 6-2, weight at 230, Bench Press at 370, 40 time at 4.6. Last season he had 160 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. He expects Mt. Tabor to have a strong year.

Inside Carolina – AJ, various media folks have reported that you are no longer verbally committed to Carolina. Is that true?

AJ- I consider myself wide open. I didn't understand that when I verbally committed it meant that I was not supposed to take official visits. So, I think I committed too early. I would really like to have the chance to go see what it is like at other places.

Inside Carolina – Would you say that Carolina is still in your top 5 schools?

AJ – Yes sir! They are still one of my favorite schools.

Inside Carolina – What do you like the most about Carolina?

AJ – I like the tradition, the facilities, and I like it that my father went there. I like it because they are Carolina. I've always liked Carolina. They have been my favorite team since I was little.

Inside Carolina – What do you not like about Carolina?

AJ- Well, winning is important. They haven't won as much lately as they have in the past.

Inside Carolina- What will you be watching for this year at Carolina? Are you looking for or expecting a certain number of wins?

AJ- Not so much how many games they win but rather the direction the program seems to be going. I'm interested in watching the new staff and how different the team looks with the coaching change.

Inside Carolina – Have you set any official visits yet?

AJ- I have set up one on November 3 with Notre Dame.

Inside Carolina – Who is recruiting you from Carolina?

AJ- Coach Webster is my primary recruiter.

Inside Carolina – Have you met Coach Huxtable the LB coach yet?

AJ – Yes, I met Coach Huxtable at Camp

Inside Carolina – What are your impressions of the new staff at Carolina?

AJ – I think it is a great staff. Lots of pro experience and they really want to win.

Inside Carolina - Do you like the coaches that you've met?

AJ – Oh yes, I like all the new coaches.

Inside Carolina – Which schools would you say are recruiting you the hardest?

AJ – Auburn, Virginia, Notre Dame, Florida.

Inside Carolina – Which school would you say does the best job of recruiting you?

AJ – I'd say right now it is Notre Dame.
