The decision to commit comes five days after Tomlin, a 6-foot, 215-pound linebacker from Marietta (Ga.) visited North Carolina for the second time.
Throughout the process, Tomlin collected scholarship offers from Arkansas, Clemson, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, UNC, NC State, and Tennessee.
In mid-May, Tomlin named UNC his leader while listing Clemson, Mississippi, NC State, and Tennessee as members of his top five. About a month later, he announced a decision date with a final three of UNC, NC State, and Tennessee. A day after that, he canceled that announcement.
This time around, Tomlin doesn't list finalists.
"I don't have any," Tomlin said. "I'm just picking the right school."
As a junior, Tomlin accumulated 128 tackles, including 19 for a loss and 5 ½ sacks, and three interceptions.
