Tar Heels Still Evaluating Hill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ahmed Hill has no shortage of scholarship offers.

Speaking at the Nike Global Challenge, Hill said he has offers from Indiana, Marquette, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, Texas, North Carolina State, Tennessee, and others.

The two schools recruiting him that haven't offered, however, are North Carolina and Louisville.

The 6-foot-4 prospect out of Aquinas (Ga.) has no favorites at this point in time, but does know what he is looking for in a college.

"For me and the head coach to have a great relationship," Hill began, "for me and my team to have great chemistry and I just want to win really."

As for whether there is a certain style of play he would like to find, Hill said, "I think I would fit in pretty much any style of play really, that's about it."

When it comes to relationships with coaches, there are six that he said he has the strongest bonds with, all of whom are head coaches. Hill mentioned Indiana's Tom Crean, Marquette's Buzz Williams, Florida's Billy Donovan, Florida State's Leonard Hamilton, Georgia's Mark Fox, and Georgia Tech's Brian Gregory.

When asked who is coming at him the hardest, Hill replied, "Probably Indiana, Marquette, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Georgia Tech, and Tennessee, and Texas."

Hill has already had the opportunity to get out and see quite a few college campuses. He said he has been on visits to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and Clemson.

All of those trips were unofficial visits for Hill, who said he plans to take all five of his officials, but has no trips planned right now.

"No, not yet," Hill said. "Whenever I get free time, probably in August, I'll take some visits."

Hill went on to discuss the status of North Carolina's pursuit of him, beginning with what the coaches have been saying to him.

"They just want to see me play more," Hill said. "They came to see me play in the Nike Invitational in Augusta [when we played the] Alabama Challenge and they've seen me play right now [here]. So hopefully they like what they see."

"They liked (what they saw)," Hill began, repeating the feedback he received from UNC's recent viewing. "They liked how aggressive I was, how I controlled the team, put the team on my back and went out there and showed that I can be a true scorer."

At this point, Hill said he has not been told by the North Carolina coaches what he has to do to gain an offer from them.

"They didn't say," Hill said, "they just want to see me play."

"If (a UNC offer) happens, it happens," Hill said. "I'm not going to stress myself about it."

As for what the next step is with UNC's recruitment of him is, Hill said, "Hopefully it goes to [where] they offer and I'll take a look into it, but if it doesn't, it doesn't…"
