Heels Showing More Interest in Blakeney

North Carolina continues to pay more attention to 2015 shooting guard Antonio Blakeney.

UNC assistant coach Hubert Davis has been the point man on Blakeney's recruitment. Blakeney, who will play his junior season this winter at Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge, said the two communicate often.

"We have a good relationship," Blakeney said about the UNC assistant. "We talk all the time. We text about three times a week and sometimes we talk on the phone. We have a real good relationship."

While Blakeney hasn't talked to Roy Williams yet, he said that the Heels are clearly beginning to show more interest.

"They came to the school a few times and watched me play," Blakeney said. "They told me they really liked my game and stuff like that. He told me they were going to offer."

"Then I talked to him on the phone and he told me he wanted me and wanted me to come," he added. "He said they wanted me to be their shooting guard in 2015 and they pretty much offered me a scholarship."

"He said they were going to come [at me] real hard," he continued. "He said Coach Williams would be talking to me in the future."

Blakeney's AAU coach Steve Reese has been in contact with Williams.

"Coach Reese talked to Roy Williams about me," he said. "I think he's trying to come down."

Williams was scheduled to visit Blakeney recently, but the visit was canceled due to a scheduling issue at his high school.

What does Blakeney think about UNC?

"It's a good program," he said. "They have a lot of good exposure. Of course Roy Williams is a real good coach so that will be a good opportunity if it's meant to be."

Blakeney said UNC tried to get him to come to their ‘Late Night' festivities, but he wasn't able to make it to Chapel Hill.

To go with interest from North Carolina, Blakeney is also getting strong interest from Florida, Missouri, Louisville, UCF, Florida State, South Carolina Mississippi and North Carolina State.
