UNC Likes Ga. LB's Versatility

ATLANTA --- During the fall evaluation period, North Carolina assistant coach Ron West visited Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett to check out Adonis Thomas.

Before departing, West told head coach Todd Wofford that Thomas had a UNC offer.Later that night, West discussed the situation with Thomas, 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker from the 2015 class.

"He said he liked the way I played – that I'm versatile," Thomas said. "He said that I could play anywhere – any linebacker positions. He said I could play linebacker or Bandit."

West also invited Thomas to attend one of the Tar Heels' upcoming junior days. Thomas plans to accept the invitation to learn more about UNC.

"I really don't know that much about them," Thomas said. "But I want to learn."

Thomas is now up to 17 scholarship offers. Highlighting his list is Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, and Ohio State.

"Everybody is equal right now," Thomas said.

The only schools that Thomas has been able to visit thus far are Clemson and Georgia. In addition to UNC, he is looking to schedule trips to Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame in the coming months.

During Georgia's Rising Seniors Bowl this week, Thomas was in on six tackles while playing linebacker in a 4-2-5 scheme for the East.
