Zimmerman Eying Visits

SANTA ANA, Calif. --- With a long list of scholarship offers from elite programs, Stephen Zimmerman wants to begin taking college visits.

"Right now I'm really listening to what schools have to say and I'm going to try and take unofficials and officials," the seven-foot junior said. "I don't know when, but when we have time."

With a long list of schools involved, Zimmerman, ranked the No. 3 prospect in the class, has a number of schools he wants to see.

"I want to go to Kentucky and Louisville," he said. "Indiana, Arizona too. I want to go to Kansas and North Carolina. Those are some of the schools I want to go to."

Roy Williams and North Carolina offered Zimmerman a scholarship in early October. The Tar Heels have continued their pursuit of the talented big man at Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman. The most recent visit by the UNC head coach was on Jan. 14, which followed trips in October and December.

"They've been showing interest and texting me a lot," Zimmerman said.

Carolina has offered scholarships to four 2015 post players, looking to add two in the 2015 class. The Roy Williams pitch to Zimmerman has centered on the type of role he would play in his system.

"He's just telling me that if I went there I would have a really big role and help the team out a lot," Zimmerman said.

"I know that they are obviously a really good team," Zimmerman said. "I know they have a really good history and really good coaches and they work well with big men."
