CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Sporting News has named University of North Carolina sophomore point guard Marcus Paige a second-team All-America.

The Marion, Iowa, native is ranked in the Top 10 in the ACC in free throw percentage (.876), three-pointers made per game (2.4), assists (4.5), three-point percentage (.395), minutes played (35.56), steals (1.6), scoring (17.1), assist-error (2.1) and field goal percentage (.440).

He scored a career-high 35 points in the overtime win at NC State and also had 32 points in a win over defending NCAA champion Louisville. He scored 21 points in the second half of two games (Kentucky and NC State) and scored in double figures in both of UNC's overtime periods (wins over Davidson and NC State). He has scored in double figures 26 times and has five or more assists 16 times.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced earlier today that the Paige was a first-team All-ACC selection and the league's Most Improved Player as voted upon by both the media and head coaches.

The second-team All-America selection by The Sporting News means that Paige's jersey will hang among the ‘Honored Jerseys' in the rafters of the Smith Center after his collegiate career is concluded.
