Q&A with Adam Metts

What have you seen from Coach Bunting as the game approaches?

"Coach Bunting is really excited about the game coming up. He's trying to get everybody excited. He's trying to get everyone to understand what we're about to do. It's a great opportunity that we have to play agains Oklahoma. You can sense how he's getting really fired up for the game. I heard he was a fired-up player, and he's going to be a fired-up coach."

Is this team really ready to play the best team in the country?

"I think we are more ready for this game than we've been for any other game since I've been here. People are excited. We've been waiting for this for a while. This is a great opportunity for us. Everybody's been working hard. I can't express that enough. This is what college football is about—I love it."

Is there any scenario where you could look back at this game and say that maybe this wasn't such a good idea?

"I don't think so. Win, lose, or draw, this is awesome. This is going to be an awesome game for us, and I'm really looking forward to it. I would not not want to play. I'd love to play them. I'd do it 1,000 times over again. I always would take this game. Anybody that wouldn't would have to be crazy because of everything that you can gain from this game and the experience of it."

Did it surprise you that Coach Bunting took this game?

"No, not with the type of man that Coach Bunting is. This is what the game is about. This is what football is about. There are not a lot of people that get to open up the first game of the year with the defending national champions. I love it. I absolutely love it, and I have a lot of respect for Coach Bunting because he was ready for the challenge. There was no doubt in his mind that he wanted to do it, but then he even came to us to get a feel for what kind of team we want to be and what kind of people we are."
