Sweet Relying on Trust

North Carolina verbal commitment Williams Sweet is hoping for trust from Tar Heel Nation, despite his decision to visit other schools.

"Whatever happens, I'm a man of my word," Sweet said. "I'm a Tar Heel. Everyone just needs to keep calm. I wouldn't be headed any other place in America and that's real."

While visiting Chapel Hill for the Tar Heels' Spring Game in April, Sweet verbally committed to UNC. At that time, the 6-foot-7, 250-pound offensive tackle from Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast said he was finished visiting other schools.

Sweet confirmed that he has visited other schools, but wouldn't reveal where he has been. It has, though, been reported that he has made trips to Florida and LSU.

"I've made my rounds and there is no place like North Carolina," Sweet said. "I'm a Tar Heel."

Sweet wouldn't provide a reason as to why he has visited other schools.

"I'm just blessed to be where I am and excited to get where I'm going," Sweet said.

Additionally, Sweet wouldn't say whether he's finished visiting other schools.

Sweet is scheduled to return to UNC for Fedora's Freak Show. There, he says he'll most likely participate in camp activities.

"I want to go [to UNC] right now," Sweet said with a laugh. "But I'm just looking forward to a great time [at the Freak Show]. And I want to learn a little bit more about how the offense runs and their system."

Sweet says that the UNC coaches are well aware of his trips elsewhere.

"They trust me and I trust them," Sweet said.

Sweet is in regular contact with Dan Disch, his area's recruiter, and Chris Kapilovic, UNC's offensive line coach. Both also made visits to First Coast during the Spring Evaluation Period.

"They tell me to just keep working hard and that they trust me," Sweet said.
