UNC Impresses Wilson

Nick Wilson took his first recruiting trip of the summer on Thursday. The 6-foot-4, 274-pound offensive lineman from Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton returned to North Carolina.

"I've already seen most of the campus, so [Thursday] was more about getting to revisit with a lot of the coaches and spend some time with the players, as well," Wilson said. "I just wanted to continue to develop our relationship."

Previously, Wilson has attended football games at UNC and made unofficial visits similar to Thursday's stay.

"[Thursday's visit] was great," Wilson said. "It was one of the first times getting to hang out with the players. They seemed like they were a really close-knit group and they seem like great guys.

"I was really impressed with everything. Every time I go there I find something else that impresses me."

UNC is now firmly implanted in Wilson's top three schools list.

"[The visit] just made me like [UNC] even more," Wilson said. "Right now, now I'm at the point that I really love the school."

Duke and Stanford round out Wilson's top three schools list. He says the academics and players separate the trio from other schools that have offered him.

"Academics are great at all three schools and so are the kids, which has really attracted me to those three specific schools," Wilson said. "They are tops in the country in academics. You can't really measure it, but the kids are all great and I see that whenever I visit those places. I'm really looking for kids that have the same interests as me. [and] same behavior pattern as me."

Stanford, says Wilson, is his leader.

"It's still close," Wilson said.

During Thursday's visit to UNC, Wilson spend a lot of time with several different members of the Tar Heels' coaching staff, but Chris Kapilovic, UNC's offensive line coach, was constantly by his side.

"Most of the day [Kapilovic] was hanging out with me, but we had some one-on-one talk," Wilson said.

Wilson also received a one-on-one meeting with Larry Fedora.

"Mainly they were pitching me to make a decision and commit – that was their message throughout the whole day," Wilson said. "I understand it, because the recruiting class is kind of coming to an end here. They hope to have most of their guys committed before their senior year. I've already been to the school and seen everything, so it was all about building on our relationships and hopefully getting me closer to committing."

Wilson isn't exactly sure when he'll make a verbal commitment.

"I'll definitely decide before senior year, but it will probably be earlier," Wilson said.

Stanford is the only other school Wilson has visited in recent months.

After leaving UNC on Thursday, Wilson remained in the Triangle Area of N.C. that night. He plans to visit Duke on Friday.
