UNC in Contact with Tucker

You won't find many wing players in the 2015 class that can compare to Rayjon Tucker athletically.

Tucker, a 6-foot-4 wing prospect out of Charlotte (N.C.) Northside Christian Academy, is a tremendous leaper that is at his best when he's making strong, aggressive drives to the rim.

"I like to finish strong and play fast," Tucker told Scout.com after his first set of games at NBPA Top 100 camp on Wednesday. "I like to dish the ball and get my teammates involved and just a guy that likes to play defense."

Playing with Team Charlotte in the Under Armour Association, Tucker has averaged 17.9 points and 6.4 rebounds a game, while drawing comparisons to current Maryland player Dez Wells.

Tucker's play this spring has led to interest from a variety of schools. He said he's heard from schools in the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, as well as a host of mid-majors.

"I'm pretty open right now," Tucker said. "I'm weighing out my options and see what school is best for me."

This past weekend Tucker took an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech.

"It was great," Tucker said of his time in Blacksburg.

"We went and toured the schools, looked at the gyms and everything," he added. "We played pick up with the team and that was basically it."

North Carolina recently began showing interest in Tucker. He has been communicating with UNC assistant Hubert Davis.

"It's been big," Tucker said of UNC's interest. "They talk to me all the time."

"They are just going to be very interested and stay on me and they are going to see how I play in July," Tucker added.

Tucker was scheduled to visit UNC this week, but he had to reschedule due to the NBPA Top 100 camp invitation.

What's Tucker's interest in UNC?

"It's very high," he said.

To go with UNC, Tucker said he's hoping to visit NC State in the near future.
