Zimmerman Schedules UNC In-Home

Zimmerman has set up six in-home visits with all six of his finalists, including UNC, according to his mother.

Here’s the finalized in-home visit schedule for the Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman seven-footer:
* UNLV -- 9/9
* Arizona -- 9/10
* UNC – 9/11
* Kentucky -- 9/13 or 14
* Kansas -- 9/15
* UCLA -- 9/16

Lori Stevens, Zimmerman's mother, said the North Carolina coaches have been keeping in frequent contact with her and her son.

“There’s been a lot of texting between coaches and I and with Stephen also,” Stevens said.

The Tar Heels have been aggressively pursuing Zimmerman for quite some time. They offered him in October of last year and began building a relationship with him much earlier than that. Stevens said UNC’s current pitch to her son has centered on its success with post players.

“I think with Stephen it's been the past success of big men and draft picks,” Stevens said. “With me it's more of the mom stuff like building a relationship, asking how he's feeling, talking about spring/summer events, asking what he's looking for in a school, coach and playing style.”

At this stage in the recruiting process, what sticks out the most about North Carolina’s program?

“I think probably the historic nature of the program,” Stevens said. “The past successes of the program and individual players.”

According to Stevens, UNC hasn’t been pushing for a commitment, but are certainly being diligent with their efforts.

“They are letting it happen naturally,” Stevens said. “Stephen has been very clear that he needs to visit to get a feel for where he thinks his best fit will be and he's done a great job telling coaches that he is going on all five visits and possibly a few unofficials so he has enough exposure to the programs to make his decision.”

Zimmerman, ranked the No. 4 center in the 2015 class by Scout.com, will visit North Carolina officially the weekend of October 3rd for the 'Late Night with Roy' event.
