Williams watched Bradley, a class of 2016 prospect, score 38 points in a win on Monday night at Auburndale (Fla.) High School.
“Coach Roy Williams and the assistant Coach (Steve) Robinson came to my game recently this past Monday,” Bradley said. “That wasn’t their first time seeing me. They saw me over the summer.”
“Coach Williams called me 30 minutes ago and he surprised me when he said he was going to offer me a scholarship to the University of North Carolina,” Bradley added. “He asked me how I felt about it and I said I felt good about it.”
North Carolina joins a long list of schools that have offered Bradley, who claims offers from more than 30 colleges. Among the other schools that have extended offers are Florida, Miami, Central Florida, South Florida, Virginia Tech, Alabama, Texas A&M and Kansas.
What was Bradley’s take on the new offer?
“I’m just really excited and thankful for it,” he said. “I like [North Carolina]. I like the school. I want to get up there and visit it since they are interested in me.”
Bradley reiterated that he didn’t have a date in mind, but is hoping to head to Chapel Hill in the new future. He said the tradition at UNC is among the many things that stick out to him.
“Just that they’re successful most of the time,” he said. “They know how to win. They find great players for their program. When I think of North Carolina I think of Jordan and how they find great players for their program.”
Bradley has already built a relationship via phone conversations.
“I’ve talked to him three times on the phone,” Bradley said. “I started talking to him after the summer maybe in August or September. That’s when they said there were interested in me. They started coming down to my high school for workouts. They’ve visited me maybe two or three times.”
To go with a desire to visit UNC, Bradley is also hoping to make a visit swing through Florida.
“I want to visit all the Florida ones, like the University of Florida,” he said. “I live 45 minutes from UCF, USF and Miami. I want to get to those soon. I’m going to try and do those as unofficials. I’m going to try and do those soon.”
Despite all the early attention, Bradley said he’s not in a rush to make a college choice. In fact, he’s eyeing a decision sometime after the summer of next year.
“I’m probably going to make my decision early, maybe early in my senior year,” he said. “I’m not really in a rush. I’m not going to wait until the last minute like some players like to do, but I’m going to make it early my senior year maybe August or September.
Bradley is five games into his junior season. He’s averaging 23 points and 12 rebounds a game.
